Pictures of the 385 with AFR cylinder heads and the Pro Flo Injection.
This picture shows the completed installation of the engine with
the new AFR heads. The dual snorkel air cleaner was made by
combining two LG4 style housings. The injection system is pretty-
well hidden by the air cleaner, so it looks almost like a carb hiding
under there. One person asked me if that was some kind of nitrous
system after he saw the injectors! Hmmm.
Notice the lack of emissions controls. I hope they never test around
here :) I added the AC system back in a month later after the summer
heat started. These two pictures were taken about 3 hours after the
last picture of the engine when it was still on the stand. It fired right
up and we went for a test drive. The first thing I did was find the rev-
limiter (6000 rpm) in first gear faster than I was used to! Definitely
likes to rev now. The clutch for the fan wasn't kicking in until way past
200 degrees, which had me worried. I have since switched to an electric
fan and an aluminum radiator. This setup works great until the temperature
gets above 90 degrees outside and the AC is on. Otherwise, especially in
winter, it cools amazingly well.
